Pallet Deliveries

If you’ve landed here wondering how to get larger, heavier consignments safely delivered across the UK, you’re in the right place. Pallet deliveries are a practical solution when your goods are too big, too heavy, or too numerous to send as standard parcels. But you already know that hence why you’re here.

To keep things straightforward, a pallet delivery means we’ll collect your consignment on a pallet and get it to its intended destination. Pallets vary in size, weight and the type of goods they carry, so it’s important to provide us with clear details about what’s being shipped, along with the collection and delivery addresses. This helps us plan the journey efficiently and ensure your items are handled appropriately.

We also need to know the approximate weight of the pallet. We are a small van courier. All of our drivers drive small vans too. For this reason we are unable to handle weight of 400kg or more.

It’s worth noting right away thatboth collection and delivery points must have the necessary facilities to load and unload the palletas our drivers do not come with a forklift. If either location lacks this equipment or assistance, we won’t be able to complete the delivery safely. Ensuring suitable forklifts, pallet trucks, or other handling equipment are available is essential. This will be your responsibility.

When you book a pallet delivery with us, you can rest assured that your consignment is in safe hands. Our drivers take care of the transport from start to finish, navigating routes efficiently and ensuring the pallet remains stable and secure during transit. Items are strapped and protected where necessary and we adapt to the specific requirements of your goods, whether they are fragile, bulky, or high value.

We once transported very high value Carbon Fibre Formula 1 aero parts which was tricky as they had to be protected but they could not be strapped down tight either. In this instance the pallet was strapped down and the parts on top were blanketed over with a light strap holding it all in place. Bungee cords finally found a place.

So let’s talk about pricing. We charge the same for pallets as we do for everything else. Wether it’s a small box or a pallet the price is the same. When you book us you are paying for a dedicated van so that load space in the back. Is yours.

While larger courier companies often focus on standard parcels and may not provide dedicated pallet transport, Frigate Express treats pallet delivery as a priority. Every journey is carefully planned, taking into account road conditions, vehicle capacities, and handling requirements. The consignment is never treated as an afterthought; we understand that pallets often carry valuable, time-sensitive, or essential goods.

Who typically uses pallet delivery? The answer is varied. Small businesses transporting stock to retail outlets, manufacturers sending raw materials to production sites, engineers love them and organisations moving equipment or supplies all rely on this service. If your consignment is too large for regular parcels but needs careful handling and timely delivery, pallet transport is the solution.

These are the most common type of pallets.

  • Standard UK Pallet – 1200mm x 1000mm (used for most general deliveries – these often look almost square)
  • Euro Pallet – 1200mm x 800mm (widely used for international shipments – these are the ones that look rectangle shaped)
  • Half Pallet – 800mm x 600mm (smaller loads, retail or single items – the ones you call cute)
  • Oversized Pallets – custom sizes for unique consignments (must be pre-arranged).

If you can tell us what sort of pallet you want transporting it would help.

Planning a pallet delivery involves a few key steps. First, provide the details of the pallet or pallets, including weight, dimensions, and type of goods. Next, ensure both the collection and delivery points have the right facilities for loading and unloading. Finally, provide any additional instructions that may help with handling or access at either location. This process allows us to deliver efficiently and safely.

Some Frequently Asked Questions about pallet deliveries.

  • 1. What's the heaviest pallet you can take?
We cap it at around 400kg. Small van, small payload. Yes, we are aware that the average small van payload is a wee bit more we need these vans to last a while so our prices can be kept down. If the pallet weighs any more you’ve better off with a bigger van. Get in touch with us and we can put you in touch with someone who can deliver at the same standards set by us.
  • 2. Do I need to shrink-wrap my pallet?
It helps but it’s not necessary. If stuff is falling off or hanging over the edges, we can still take it. We’ll blanket and strap it down. The simple formular being that the load must NOT move.
  • 3. What if no one's there to receive it?
We follow your instructions. As we have mentioned earlier you, the customer needs to ensure that loading and unloading facilities and equipment are available at both collection and delivery points. If even after you’ve arranged everything and we are still unable to deliver (because real life happens) we will get in touch with you to explore options.
  • 4. My pallet is an unusual size. Can you still take it?
Very likely. We've transported all sorts of items on pallets. Long stuff, awkward shapes, carbon fibre F1 parts that needed kid glove treatment. The main thing is it fits in a small van and stays put during transit. Tell us what you've got. We'll work out if it's doable.
